This is how I remember Catalina's Avalon Bay: even as I painted in my studio, I could hear the steady song of cicadas, the laughter of waterfront strollers, the soft rumble of boat motors, and always, the undertone of ocean waves gently stroking the shore. Natural and human notes combined in my memory have created such a harmony that I believe that Avalon Bay is my ode to joy.
