Dona Gelsinger

A LIFE DEVOTED TO ART

Artist Dona Gelsinger grew up in the 1960's near Los Angeles, CA. Her father was a school teacher, principal and school administrator. Her mother was a registered nurse, head of the nursing department. From both her parents, Dona inherited a deep appreciation for the strong, loving family values that were the foundation for both her happy childhood and the art she started to create at a very early age.
In Fact, from the time she could walk, Dona had been fascinated by art. For hours on end, she would sit and watch her grandfather as he painted. As she studied every stroke of his brush, the talented youngster was learning her craft so much so that young Dona received several awards as an art student in high school. After high school, she went on to study art at Cal State Long Beach.
Once she graduated, Dona accepted a position as a staff artist for a large corporation in southern California. There she spent her days designing and drawing advertising layouts. Although she was very thankful to have a steady job, in time she started to feel out of touch in the impersonal corporate culture, and longed to set her creative spirit soaring.

With the support and encouragement of her devoted family, Dona left the safety of her corporate job and struck out on her own to pursue her heart's desire. She set up a studio in her home and started painting portraits and illustrations.
AN IDEA THAT CHANGED HER FAMILY'S LIVES
One Sunday in 1987, while Dona and her family were attending services at their small church, something that would change the lives of the whole family happened. Dona had thought it would be nice to donate a piece for the new church her congregation was building. Upon speaking to a priest, he told her they were looking for an artist to paint the stations of the cross and were presently considering an overseas artist for the job. After thinking and praying for the right decision, she talked to the parish priest and applied for the commission herself. After demonstrating her abilities, she was awarded the commission. Dona spent the better part of the next two years creating the inspiring scenes of the Passion of Jesus Christ.
Her paintings have helped to make the new St. Denis Church in Diamond Bar, CA, a destination for devout pilgrims throughout America, and forever changed the fate of the little-known artist who was selected to paint them.
In no time, Dona found herself traveling in the art world's most exalted circles. But even working with a prestigious art publisher failed to provide the creative stimulus she had been seeking since her work on the church. So in 1994, Dona and Brian once again put their faith and future in God's hands. They started their own company, Little Angel Publishing, a name they chose as a tribute to their son, Jacob.

LAP - THE REALIZATION OF A HEART'S DESIRE
From its inception, Little Angel Publishing has been bringing Dona Gelsinger's sublime vision of the world to collectors on paper and canvas. As meticulous with her licensing products and prints as she is with her original works, Dona insists on maintaining only the highest standards. "Quality" has always been the cornerstone of the company. This has been acknowledged by the dealers who carry Dona's artwork, and her growing number of collectors.

AT HOME WITH THE LOVE OF ART
LAP is headquartered in rural Eagle Point, outside of Medford, Oregon, near Dona's studio. Living and painting in southern Oregon, with its incredible natural beauty, provides Dona with an endless source of inspiration.
In this paradise of clear lakes, blue skies and green trees, Dona has merely to step outside to find fascinating subjects, while the quiet grandeur of the area provides the spiritual tranquility with which all of the artist's work is suffused.
Her proximity to LAP's headquarters also allows Dona to stop by the offices to check on the progress of new products and share in the excitement when a new product is ready for release.

A BRIGHT FUTURE WITH GOD'S HELP
LAP teamed up with Bentley House, a highly-respected distributor, to help distribute Dona's artwork in several countries, enabling more collectors than ever to own Dona's art.
Collectors can look forward to new prints coming to the market along with new collectibles, greeting cards, and much, much more.

n 1997, Dona completed a life-size painting of actress Ginger Rogers for display in the Ginger Rogers Craterian Theater in Medford, Oregon. Miss Rogers once performed there and was so taken with the beauty of the countryside, she purchased property and lived there for most of her career.
One of Dona Gelsinger's trademarks is her inclusion of an angelic figure hidden within her paintings. Collectors enjoy searching for the image, and those who have suffered a tragic loss, often say that they take comfort in the celestial presence they find in Dona's work.
